The Baker

Renee 05

I used to own a bake shop and love sharing my idea’s with others.  I few years ago I realized that although I loved the business, especially my faithful customers, I really loved doing food photography and writing more.  I closed up shop to follow my dream!   My husband Shane, is the other half of this adventure, and he does most of the photography found on here.

I hope that I can inspire you to get into the kitchen and be creative!  I want to make baking less complicated for you, with a step-by-step approach to mastering sweet dishes and dessert ideas.  And I can’t wait for you to share your creations with me!

I also strive to use the BEST quality ingredients I can find. I believe it really does take a village to bake really beautiful things!  I advocate for shopping local and supporting local farmers.  I’m surrounded by farmland!  In-season produce and ingredients can always be found on my blog.  Food baked with locally sourced ingredients just taste better and are better for you and your community!

My family is at the heart of everything I do.  Baking for them and with them, is the best excuse for family time and sharing love with them.  I want to create all of those feel good memories for my own family, that food and food traditions did for me.  In our house, the kitchen is truly the heart of our home.  I get a lot of personal satisfaction watching others enjoy my treats too. Feeling down? Under the weather? I’m apt to show up at your door with a cake. Thats just who I am. I have really enjoyed the blogging process, have found a new love for food writing and have learned so many new things about myself along the way.

I certainly love your feedback.  Comments, shares, pictures and emails make my day!  I am happy when you try my recipes or share what you have!  I’m always looking for new things, but love love old favs too.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Renee

Happened upon your site and it is amazing! Love the pictures and recipes! So wish my cakes could turn out looking that good. Do you give tips on how to bake moist cakes? Would love to know. You do wonderful work with cakes and are so very talented. Thank you for posting these wonderful recipes.

    • Alabamadecorator- thanks for visiting! I think any of the cakes you try on my blog are pretty moist. Baking time is key though, overbaking even for a few minutes can make for a very dry cake! And, I tend to refrigerate as little as possible. Try one out and let me know what you think!
